From our friends at Climate Action RI:
State leadership has failed the people of Rhode Island this legislative session. Only one of the 20 bills we endorsed passed. These bills, like so many others, were meant to take the steps we need if we want to have a liveable future and avert the sea level rise, heat waves, stronger storms, droughts and floods, ecosystem collapse, and more that continuing to stall on climate action will bring about.
We’re upset. We’re angry. And we’re not giving up. To mark this year’s disappointment, we are going to stage some political theater — a funeral ceremony at the State House on Saturday to mark the 'passing' (death) of all of these bills and our anger and frustration at the lack of any meaningful action by our state government. We welcome you to join us in community to commemorate the loss of these bills and recognize what this failure means.
