Accountability

Accountability nonprofit

Our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Green Energy Consumers Alliance, previously operated under the name Energy Consumers Alliance of New England.

We file financial reports every year with the federal Internal Revenue Service. You can see Foundation Finder’s posting of our latest Form 990, the Giving Common's posting about us, or the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office's report on us.

Green Powered

Green Powered

Our Green Powered program is regulated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities and you can always see our quarterly content disclosure on our website.

We sign contracts with Class 1 renewable energy generators, purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to fulfill our obligations to our green electricity customers and New England Wind Fund donors. We own and operate an account through the ISO-New England Generation Information System, which ensures that there is no double-counting of RECs.

Oil Bank

We spend 100% of the funds we collect from corporate, governmental, and individual donations to our Massachusetts and Rhode Island Oil Bank programs on direct assistance. How much we spend in a year depends on the amount of donations we receive. Our annual spending on the Oil Bank is reported in our Form 990.

Drive Green

Drive Green

Green Energy Consumers has implemented the Drive Green with Green Energy Consumers program to make choosing an electric vehicle easier and more affordable for anyone. We contract with vetted and willing dealers and make a $100 commission for each car sold or leased through the program. That money goes toward staff, materials, overhead, and marketing costs.

Heating Oil Service

Heating Oil Service

We've negotiated fair prices that are lower than our participating oil dealers' everyday oil prices. Green Energy Consumers collects a small commission per gallon sold to our members from participating oil dealers. This commission does not increase the member price and goes toward program costs and overhead, allowing us to keep dues low.

Simple Solar Shopping

Simple Solar Shopping

Green Energy Consumers has teamed up with EnergySage to promote their online platform because, through years of studying and disseminating information about solar, we've found it to be user-friendly, local business-friendly, unbiased, and the easiest way to get the best price. Green Energy Consumers receives $250 for every successful installation that we refer to EnergySage.
